about

Following releases on legendary labels like Axis, MORD, and Soma, Hemissi makes his premiere on Blank Code with the Structural EP (BCRLTD011).

The release begins with "Spontaneity," a dense percussive work with underlying acid elements that occasionally flare into the forefront. "Deuteronomy" builds on this driving approach with metallic drum hits and subtle atmospheres that call to mind the work of UK artists like James Ruskin and Ben Sims. The EP then continues with "Aztec," a track structured by its rugged percussion and looping elements of 90's Detroit minimalism, adorned with paranoid synth washes reminiscent of UK and US techno in the vein of Sandwell District. The release then finishes with "Myster," an aptly-named track centered around whole-tone scaled arpeggios, giving the track a decidedly enigmatic feeling.
